Ear Wax Removal
Appointment for clearance of both ears of wax using gentle micro-suction by Mr. Prowse £130Micro-suction uses a miniature suction device and precision micro-instruments to gently remove stubborn wax. It is far safer than traditional water syringing as the whole procedure is performed under direct vision using a high powered medical microscope. If you have any history of ear surgery or ear disease it is highly recommended that you avoid conventional ear syringing due to the risk of complications.Specialist training is required to perform this procedure and you should ensure that any provider you choose is suitably qualified and experienced. Be aware of providers who have simply attended a 2 day training course and have no prior experience with this technique. You should ensure that any provider has experience in managing diseases of the ear. As a consultant surgeon with over a decade of clinical experience Mr. Prowse is uniquely qualified to perform the procedure and, crucially, to identify any additional ear problems that might require further attention.Insurance Cover
Mr Prowse is recognised by all major health insurers. With the below exception, fees for insured patients will not usually exceed company maxima but please be aware of the level of cover your policy provides and of any excess you may be liable for, as in some instances your policy may not meet the full cost of all procedures or appointments. We recommend discussing your appointment with your insurer prior to your visit to ensure that you have adequate cover. If you have not been pre-approved for a consultation, procedure or investigation your insurer may refuse to reimburse you.
- April 2018: SPECIAL NOTE TO AVIVA CUSTOMERS.
Unfortunately Aviva have recently contacted me to request a unilateral reduction in the fees I charge their customers to below a level covered by other insurers. No reasonable explanation was given and this request is despite a lack of inflation based increase in their fees for many years and goes against the rising costs for indemnity insurance faced by independent sector consultants such as myself. I have not been able to agree to these terms and as such am no longer accepting referrals from AVIVA. IF you are insured by AVIVA and would like an appointment I would be happy to accommodate you on a self-pay basis.
